A further 29 factories in Bangladesh have completed action plans to improve their safety in September, the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety has reported.
The alliance is a legally binding, five-year commitment from US retailers to improve safety in Bangladeshi ready-made garment factories.
A total of 195 factories are now compliant.
Alliance country director Jim Moriarty said: “We commend each and every one of these factories for prioritizing remediation and fulfilling their commitment to providing safer workplaces for their employees. Our commitment to Bangladesh is stronger than ever, and we are working with key organisations in Dhaka now on a transition plan that will enable the continuation of this important work in Bangladesh’s garment industry over the long term.”
