LAHORE  –  Nationwide processions for Ashura have concluded peacefully as tight security arrangements denied any unfortunate incident in the big and small cities. Majlis-e-Sham-e-Ghariban have been arranged at all Imambargahs in the cities. Processions had mourned throughout the day while their all small ones joined the main procession in bigger cities where people gathered at one place.

Eyes shed tears and people kept beating their bodies in the pain and grief while recalling what happened to the martyred grandson of Muhammad (PBUH) at Karbala on the same day. People were wearing the name of Imam Hussain (RA) on their heads and hands while observing the sorrow.

In Lahore, the main procession arrived at Nisar Haveli in the Andaron Shehr where a large number of attendees gathered. Similar scenes were seen in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Faisalabad and elsewhere. Processions ended peacefully and now arrangements have been made for Sham-e-Ghariban. Tight security procedures were made throughout the cities. Ban on pillion-riding remained effective while mobile phone and internet services were compromised during the sensitive hours.

Arrangements of sabeel and langar were made for the mourners at various places. In Multan, the main procession comprising of a large number of women and children appeared from Hira Haideri imambargah which reached its destination while going through fixed routes. Similar processions of Shabih-i-Zuljinnah and Tazia were taken out in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala.

In Karachi, Majlis-i-Aza was arranged at an imambargah in which Karbala incident was highlighted. The main procession of Ashura ended at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah, Kharadar after passing through Numaish, Regal Chowk, Tibet Centre and Denso Hall. Sham-e-Ghariban majalis have been held at all Imambargahs. Mourners have also paid tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Rohri, Quetta and Peshawar. Meanwhile, strict security arrangements are in place in all the cities to avoid any untoward incident.
