In a joint operation by Railway Protection Force and special cell of Delhi Police, four Dera Sacha Sauda followers were arrested for allegedly setting empty coaches on fire in the yard of Anand Vihar railway station.
According to police, the accused wanted to avenge the conviction of godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The accused – Vijay Malik, Bir Sungh, Kanhaiya Lal and Harjeet Singh – are residents of Gagan Vihar, Ganesh Nagar Mandawali, Dharampur Gandhi Nagar and Laxmi Nagar, respectively.
They were arrested at their residences on Tuesday following a tip-off from a neighbour.
“The accused admitted that they were followers of Ram Rahim and involved in setting up two empty coaches on fire on August 25, 2017,” said an officer of Delhi police.
The accused were booked under IPC sections 436, 3/4, and 151 of the Railway Act.
