The Phnom Penh Municipal Court summoned two lawyers who represented the Cambodian Union Federation to appear on January 9. The lawyers had filed a complaint against former union leader Chea Mony.
According to the summons issued by Phnom Penh Municipal Court prosecutor Seang Sok, both lawyers are to bring all documents and evidence relevant to this litigation.
Recently, a group of 120 federations and unions filed a lawsuit against Mr. Mony after he appealed to the EU to place sanctions on Cambodia over the dissolution of the oppositional CNRP. It accuses Mr Mony, a member of the Watch Council of Cambodia and former president of the Free Trade Union, of appealing to the EU to stop ordering clothes from Cambodia in an interview with the US-based Radio Free Asia.
