Sanna Khanh Hoa claimed a 2-0 semi-final win over Lao Toyota at the New Laos National Stadium on Sunday to advance to the final of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2017.
After making a bright start to the contest, Sanna Khanh Hoa took a deserved lead five minutes after the half-hour mark when Nguyen Tan Tai latched onto a neat layoff by Le Duy Thanh and proceeded to rifle a shot past Sengphachan Bounthisanh’s despairing dive.
The visitors continued to dominate proceedings in the second half but were wasteful in front of goal, with Youssouf Toure screwing a shot wide from six yards out before Nguyen Dinh Nhon was denied by the post after poking an effort past Sengphachan.
But, just when it looked as though Lao Toyota would go on to force the draw late on and send the tie to penalties, Toure was on target for his 6th goal in three games in the 84th minute, latching onto Dinh Nhon’s release pass and making no mistake in blasting past Sengphachan to put the result beyond doubt.
Moments later, the final whistle blew and it was Sanna Khanh Hoa who were left celebrating as they continued their impressive debut in the tournament by advancing to the final, where they will now meet Thai giants Muangthong United over two legs.
